Methods of Cleaning
There are a couple methods of cleaning concrete and clay barrel tile roofs. One method uses high pressure washing that can cause irreversible damage and another uses natural biodegradable chemicals that cause less damage. The National Roofing Contractors Association recomend to use the soft wash method. At Curb Appeal we strive to get the work done in the most professional and time efficient manner and thats why we use the soft wash method. We use a blend of biodegradable detergants and spread it on the whole roof as a pre-treatment. After a 30-60 minute dwell time, most of the algea moss and lichen has lost its vibrant color and will turn a dull color, white or might even completely disappear. We then use a low pressure to remove the remaining dirt and dead growth. Here is an example of a job we did in Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, CA on February 20, 2020
